The United States launched 50 Tomahawk cruise missiles on Syrian airbase in retaliation for what the Trump administration claims was a Syrian government chemical weapons attack that killed scores of civilians, a US official said on Thursday.
The targets hit from US ships in the Mediterranean Sea included the airbase in the central city of Homs.
Syrian state TV called the US strikes an act of "aggression".
A Syrian military source said the US missile strike on a Syrian airbase had led to "losses."
"One of our airbases in the central region was exposed at dawn today to a missile strike by the United States, leading to
losses," a Syrian state TV news flash cited the source as saying.
President Donald Trump said strike on Syria in the 'vital national security interest' of the United States.
